Cannon Falls School of Dance will perform their spring production, Tanti Auguri, at the Cannon Falls High School auditorium this Saturday, May 20th 4:30 p.m.
The school’s creative director, Madame Ashley Groth, directed and produced this original story that takes you through the journey of two girls shopping in a magical toy store looking to find the perfect gift for a surprise birthday party.
Please come and enjoy this one-hour production featuring choreographed tap, jazz and ballet dances with students from three to 16 years old. A free-will offering will be accepted at the door.
The Cannon Falls School of Dance recently completed the installation of studio mirrors to their space at the Cannon Community Center. A Minnesota Energy Resources grant of $300 funded the project. This charitable contribution is a part of their arts and culture efforts promoting areas of theater, dance, music, drama and museums. The grant selection was based upon the organization’s benefit to the community and betterment in the lives of its neighbors.
The school was able to secure donated mirrors from the Lake Area Dance Center. The grant went towards building sturdy frames and transportation of the mirrors from White Bear Lake.
The school also received a private donation that helped with needed wall repair.
During the remodeling and additional repairs to the community center, the Cannon Falls School of Dance held classes in an old school room of the CCC building.
The school reopened its studio on March 18th at Door “D”, on the east side of the CCC, with these improvements.
Completed mirrors and frames ready for dancers.
Walls repaired with central air and new heating system
The Cannon Falls School of Dance Performance Troupe performs at area care centers and special events throughout the year. They will be entertaining Cannon Kids in early April. The entire school’s recital is May 20th at the Cannon Falls High School.

Our first year of Cannon Falls School of Dance and summer classes and camps.
It’s been an amazing experience with about 30 students taking advantage of this opportunity. Many, many positive comment from students and parents alike on how fun it has been. Also, one of our veteran dancers added, “This is the most challenging class that I have ever taken.” There sure are lot of benefits to summer dance.
Some of the routines learned will be on display at the August Fun Fest downtown Cannon Falls on August 4th 5-8 p.m.
Our last camp is August 15-17 and we are still taking registration. There will be an introduction to tap class along with various ballet boot camps. The idea behind the last camps is to either refresh your skills for returning dancers or “try it” and “see if you like it” for the beginners.
One of the parents shared these four pictures from our first recital with us and we couldn’t stop and think these pictures tell the story of why you should join dance.
From our Level 1 dancers…you learn stage presence, being comfortable in front of crowds and performance skills. These are skills that last a lifetime.
Friendships…It’s tough to feel that you fit in at school during your growing years. The friendships through dance can last a long time. The level of fun spent with friends at dance can’t be duplicated.
Poise, grace and self-confidence…through hours of practice and making sure you look great on stage, you will leave the stage knowing that you are beautiful, talented and are a specially gifted person.
Changing your attitude from “I can’t do that!” into “If I work really hard, I can do this!” We have seen our dancers grow throughout the years learning pointe and being able to do the splits and more when they first started it seemed like a pipe dream of something that never could be…today, it’s something they achieved by dancing.
Our very 1st recital takes place on May 21st at the Cannon Falls High School auditorium. Everyone is welcome to attend. Tickets go on sale the day of the event at 6 p.m. with doors opening at 6:30 p.m. The show begin at 7 p.m. so enjoy an evening of dancing put on by these young and gifted ballerinas.
For our ballerinas, this is the detailed information to plan for the event.
